Parag and I started Unific in 2013 based on a pain point I personally had with an ecommerce company my wife and I founded. I was using Infusionsoft as a CRM and marketing automation platform and I quite simply needed to get my data out of Magento and into Infusionsoft.

At the time, Zapier was in its infancy and the only real way to sync data was hiring a developer and doing a custom project. Parag built a simple plugin and we started selling. We then turned it into a SaaS solution. After putting in $1,400 of startup capital, working hard and getting a little lucky, we soon found ourselves running a company generating $50,000 in monthly recurring revenue. 

After an Infusionsoft conference in 2014, we went on an annual planning retreat in Flagstaff, AZ. During a hike through the Grand Canyon, we made the decision to integrate with HubSpot.

HubSpot had just added marketing automation to its Inbound solution. There was no CRM, Sales Hub, or Service Hub. Yet it was clear at the time that HubSpot was a rocket ship sitting on the launch pad and fueling up. We decided to go along for the ride and we haven't looked back ever since.
